Landscape photography is often a game of anticipation and calculated geometry. Arriving at this historic location a half hour before dawn, I knew the sun would break the horizon directly behind the mill, and I positioned my tripod to capture that exact alignment. After a tense wait in the dark, the sky fractured into a spectacular display of fiery orange and deep gold. This image captures that fleeting transition, where the heavy morning clouds are dramatically illuminated by the first light of day.
