Gullfoss

An immense volume of water plunges in two dramatic stages into a 32-metre-deep crevice, with this composition focusing entirely on the raw energy of the first tier. Photographing this iconic waterfall was a formidable challenge. Despite a magnificent sky broken by patches of blue, a fierce wind constantly swept across the canyon, throwing up a relentless spray of icy cold water. Combined with the low temperatures that day, conditions were far from ideal. I deliberately opted for a longer exposure to soften the roaring torrent, a technical feat that required immense patience to execute without a single droplet on the front lens ruining the shot.
