Dawn Tree
Finding a solitary tree that stands perfectly against the sky without any distracting background elements is a challenge in the famously flat landscape of the Netherlands. To achieve this composition, I headed to National Park Veluwezoom, where push moraines from the last glacial period create rare, rolling hills. By carefully planning my tripod placement ahead of sunrise, I aimed to capture the sun directly behind this bare tree, deliberately positioning it off-centre in the lower left to create a more dynamic sense of visual tension. Although heavy clouds blocked the sun itself, they provided a dramatic, brooding canvas that perfectly emphasizes the fiery morning glow.
