This image is the result of careful calculation, scouting, and patience. After passing this fractured tree multiple times, I used sun-tracking apps to calculate that the setting sun would only align perfectly between the two trunks during two brief windows each year. After several unsuccessful attempts over previous seasons, the conditions finally came together on this particular evening. It was a meticulous process to position my tripod at the exact angle required. Initially, the sun was too bright and harsh, but as it dipped lower, the atmosphere filtered the light beautifully — transforming the glare into a soft, glowing orange sphere suspended perfectly between the twin silhouettes.
